Larry Michael Beem

February 13, 1937 — September 26, 2015

Larry Michael Beem, age 6-over par, walked off the golf course for the final time on September 26, 2015. To say he was a loving, kind, sensitive man, would be total BS. In saying that, there was no shortage of compassion and understanding in the man. He was funny, stubborn, and blunt, but if asked, he would give you all the time he had. He loved the game of golf fiercely, and was very proud of his T72 finish in the 1958 L.A. Open. Larry was the first 1st Team All-American in NMSU golf history. In 1990, he was inducted into the NMSU Hall of Fame, and was especially proud of the fact that his picture hangs in the Pan Am Center over the mens restroom. He loved teaching the game to any and all who would listen, whether they wanted to or not. He will be missed by all who knew him, as they knew a "Larry" story would be had after being with him. Special thanks to sharpshooter Doc Baker for his years of care and friendship. Larry is survived by his family: Tina (kinda his favorite), Susie (somewhat his favorite), Rich (by far his favorite), and Diana (the boss). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and Minnie and Kat. God Bless you Dad, you were truly one of a kind and you will be incredibly missed!! An informal celebration of life will be held on Wednesday October 7th, starting at 4pm, at the NMSU Golf Course Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, donations to Els For Autism would be greatly appreciated. PDF Printable Version
