Joseph L. (Joe) Quelch, dies at 90 years of age. Joe passed away at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces on August 31, 2014. Joe was born to Alexander and Margaret Quelch in Woodbridge, NJ in 1924. He had two siblings, Gordon and Grace, both of whom preceded him in death. Joe joined the National Guard in October of 1939 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII, retiring from the Army after 20 years of service. He subsequently worked for the U.S. Civil Service for 20 years. Joe was married twice, first to Helen (Hill) Quelch, then to Virginia (White) Quelch. In retirement, Joe-with his wife Virginia- remained active for many years in square dancing, motorcycle riding, RV'ing and other activities. He maintained a keen interest in current events and politics. Joe is survived by his wife Virginia, son J.L Quelch, II of Austin, Texas, daughter Pat Tamburo of La Grange, California, daughter Denise White of Monument, CO. and stepson, David Trimble of El Paso, Texas. His is also survived by his first wife Helen, mother J.L., Pat and Denise. A visitation will be held from 12:00 - 1:30 PM Thursday, August 4, 2014 at Getz Funeral Home at 1410 E. Bowman Ave., Las Cruces, NM 88001. Graveside Services will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 2:30 PM also on Thursday.
