Jack Sterling Marsh, 90, died November 30, 2015 at his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico with both of his daughters by his side. Jack was born to Ernest S. Marsh and Agnes LaLonde Marsh, in Clovis, New Mexico on August 22nd, 1925. He attended grade school and high school in Evanston, Illinois. He attended Northwestern University & Illinois Institute of Technology. Jack enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 where he served until 1947. He went on to New Mexico State University where he graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1953. Jack met his wife of 64 years, Sally Ann Marsh, in High Rolls, New Mexico. They met when he stopped to help her put on chains. They married on November 29th 1949, at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church in Las Cruces. Jack & Sally lived in Bartlesville, Oklahoma for a while and returned to White Sands Missile Range, where Jack worked until he retired in 1980. During his 30 years employed at White Sands Missile Range he acted as Director of Communications, Acting Commander of USASTRATCOM and Technical Director. He was also awarded the Department of the United States Army Meritorious Civilian Service Award for his accomplishments during his employment. They settled in Las Cruces to raise their children. Jack enjoyed spending his time playing golf and tennis at the Picacho Hills Country Club. He also loved spending time and working at his ranch, in Mayhill, New Mexico. Muleshoe Ranch was where he created many fond memories with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also a member of the New Mexico Cattleman's Association. Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Sally, his parents and two of his sisters. He is survived by his three children: Mary Lorraine Marsh Vogel (Robert Vogel), Louis Sterling Marsh, and Jo Anne Marsh; seven grandchildren: Melissa Marsh, Christopher Vogel, Michael Vogel, Jacqueline Vogel Matheney, Joshua Vogel, Mason Marsh, and Kelly Marsh; and five great-grandchildren: Neva Matheney, Olive Matheney, Ryan Vogel, June Vogel, and Emma Brooks. Jack Marsh will be best remembered for his sense of humor, work ethic, and love of family. Jack's remains will be returned to the family ranch in the Sacramento Mountains where a memorial service will be held. PDF Printable Version
