Grace Rebecca Berridge

September 2, 1920 — June 21, 2010

Grace Rebecca Berridge, 89 of Garfield, NM passed away June 21, 2010 at Mom and Dad's Assisted Living facility in Hatch, NM surrounded by her family. She was born September 2, 1920 in Kingston, Arkansas to William and Chloe White. She was married at seventeen, to the love of her life, Edward Berridge, in Cooperton, Ok. They moved to Pecos, Texas for a few years where Ed worked at a cotton gin. Grace and Ed made their final move to Garfield, NM in 1944 and started their dream of farming. She loved nothing more than cooking for her family and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She enjoyed being outdoors and she loved life on the farm. She and Ed were longtime farmers in Garfield and members of the Salem Baptist Church. Grace started working in the late 1960's as a bookkeeper at the Brewster Agency in Garfield and remained there for many years. Three children, Jerry Berridge and wife Tresa of Silver City, NM, Helen Berridge of Las Cruces and Robert Berridge and wife Judy of Garfield, NM survive Grace. Her greatest joys in life were her eight grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Dabaw". Her husband of 62 years, Edward Berridge, granddaughter-in-law, Heidi Welch and two great-grandsons, Nicholas Welch and Corey Asel, preceded Grace in death. A graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Pavilion in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch, NM. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Woods of the Church of God in Hatch and the Rev. Josh Hunt, of Salem Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mom and Dad's assisted Living, P.O. Box 770, Hatch, NM 87937. We would like to give a special thanks to all her caregivers over the last year, who together with the family, lovingly cared for her at home in Garfield. We would also like to thank the special people at Mom and Dad's Assisted Living Center in Hatch. For the last three months of her live you made it feel like "home" and she was always surrounded by love. PDF Printable Version
