Erma L Manning

March 8, 1928 — October 8, 2013

Erma Lee Sammie Marie Fuller Manning was born in Vado, New Mexico on March 8, 1928 to the parents of Andrew and Ella Mae Fuller. Erma spent her childhood growing up in Vado. She attended a local elementary school and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Las Cruces, NM. At a young age Erma Lee Manning accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at Valley Grove Baptist Church in Vado, NM where she served in following capacities: Sunday school teacher, Treasurer and Tribal Leader. In 1949 Erma met and married Sergeant First Class Majestic Manning and to this union 7 beautiful children was born 4 boys and 3 girls. During the early years of their marriage the couple traveled extensively abroad to places such as Germany and France during their military service. After traveling the family settled in Seaside, CA. where she joined Greater Victory Temple Church of God in Christ in 1963. Erma took great joy in raising her children. She was widowed at a young age and was left to care for several children. In 1980 Erma returned to Vado, NM to care for her parents. Upon the passing of her parents, Erma began her work with the Foster Grandparent program in Las Cruces, NM. During her employment of 23 years she worked at Anthony and Gadsden elementary school as a teacher's aide. Erma loved working with the children and they affectionately called her "Grandma Manning". During her service with the schools she received numerous awards and recognitions. Visitation for Erma will be Friday October 11, 2013 at Getz Funeral Home from 5
