The angel of silence came in the early morning of October 25, 2015 and sealed the lips of our wonderful husband, loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend Earl R. Greene. At the age of 84, he went to join his mother, Louise Heidt; father, John Greene; daughter, Sharon Williams; sister, Margaret Wiley and many friends. He was a person with a seemingly quiet demeanor but carried an extensive vocabulary when conversing with all people. He had a great love and concern for everyone and assisted them in any way possible. Earl, a native of Savannah, Georgia, realized the need for help to guide his life's journey, thereby; he confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age, at the First Bryan Baptist Church in Savannah. Upon moving to Las Cruces, he united with Bethel Second Baptist Church where he has been a member for over 50 years. Earl loved Bethel and made it his second home before becoming ill. His graduate work occurred at Georgia Tech and New Mexico State University. He was an avid reader and would read the newspaper, magazines and books from the cover to the end and loved to work in the yard. Earl was a charter member of the El Paso Las Cruces Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity where he served as the Fraternity's Dean of Pledges, Keeper of Records, and Vice Polemarch. He was also a life time fraternity member. He supported various civic and social organizations including the NAACP, a member of the Kiwanis and as a committee member of the Democratic Party in Las Cruces.
