Daniel G. Dominguez (Pop's) Passed Wednesday May7.2014 At La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice Las Cruces, NM surrounding by his loved ones. Dan was born in Corrales, NM on May 7,1924 to Abel and Abranita Dominguez of Bernalillo, NM. Dan was married to the love of his life Maria F. Dominguez for 63 years and lived in Las Cruces for forty-five of those years. Dan who loved tinkering in his cuartito, tending to his yard and helping family and friends with anything that they needed built, dug or fixed. Dan was also known for his green thumb His yard spoke for itself. Dan will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Dan served as a Member of the New Mexico State Police and the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department for many years. Dan loved to recall his stories as a police officer. Dan was a Member of Our Lady of Health Catholic Church and served as head usher for ten years. Dan was preceded in death by his loving wife Maria F. Dominguez, his parents, his grandparents Adolfo and Francisca Garcia, son Daniel Dominguez, sisters Edwina Dominguez, Teresa Dominguez and Susie Chavez and brothers Joaquin and Serafin Dominguez all of Bernalillo, NM. Surviving members of his family include son A. Danny Dominguez (Pat) of El Paso, TX. daughters Teri Molina (Jesus), Elvia Marrufo (Joe) and Antoinette Nevarez (Robert) all of Las Cruces, NM and Eric Paul Hanson who Dan and Maria raised and considered their son. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Melissa, Cassandra and Dennae Dominguez, Jonathan and Daniel Molina, Felicity Valle (Luis), Desiree and Lucas Marrufo and Leeandra (Javier) Cabrera. He also has 7 great grandchildren; Tunie, Tiana, Tunie H., Amber, Daniel, Alina Molina and Nadia Cabrera. The family would like to thank Mesilla Valley Hospice for the loving care provided to their father in his time of need. The family would also like to thank Dr. Sangeeth Shanbhag, Dr. Maria A. Halsted, Dr. Thomas S. Gormley and Dr. Bruce Greenfield and the nurses at La Posada; Cortney Sanchez, Jackie Holguin, Lydia Barrazza, Clara Moreno , Linda Welber CNA's Angelica Nejera , Juanita Beasley, Cheri Stewart, Demmae Fuentes, Vanessa Zapien and Daniel Molina. The passing of our dad leaves us with a pain and emptiness in our hearts that is overcome by the joy that he is no longer suffering but in Heaven with his wife resting, dancing and watching over his children and grandchildren. We love and miss you Dad. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mesilla Valley Hospice. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited by Charles Aguilar at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, 14 May 2014 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00am on Thursday, 15 May 2014 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church with Father Ricardo officiating.
