Catheryn J. Lucas was born October 14, 1933 in Stratford, Oklahoma to Eura Henry Ford and Woodrow Ford. She left this life surrounded by members of her loving family on March 17, 2005 . She is survived by her husband, Evan K. Lucas of Ruidoso, NM, daughter Victoria Ryan and husband Dave of Colorado Springs, CO, son Larry Lucas and wife Denise of Las Cruces, NM, daughter Lisa Lucas and "Pica" DeLeon of El Paso, TX. Other survivors include a stepbrother Robert Fuller of Tyler, TX, two nephews, three nieces, and granddaughter, Nicole Lucas of Seattle, WA. Her parents and her brother Thomas W. Ford preceded her in death. Jerrie, as she was known, loved her family dearly. She and Evan celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary last November. In addition to being a loving wife, devoted mother, and homemaker Jerrie was the owner of Lucas Personnel in Albuquerque, NM and was the original owner of Lucas Pipe and Tobacco in Las Cruces, NM. She was formerly a member of the Albuquerque Business Women's Association. Jerrie and Evan have been active members in the Cree Meadows Country Club in Ruidoso. An expert seamstress, she was well known for the beautiful customized quilts she loved to create. Jerrie had a heart as big as the universe, was sensitive to the needs of others, and was called friend by many. Though she will be sadly missed by her family and friends, we are grateful for time-shared and her love will forever remain the wind beneath our wings. Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 2:00 pm Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces, NM. Rev. Bonnie Rice will be officiating.
