Amalia G. Gonzalez, 84, of Las Cruces died Saturday, July 30, 2011. She was born July 23, 1927 in Cuahutemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico to Juan and Lily Gutierrez. Amalia was a member of St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, she enjoyed sewing, knitting and cooking, but her passion was for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her four sons Jose Luis Gonzalez of Zaragoza, MX., Jesus Gonzales and wife Angie, Robert Gonzales and Ralph Gonzales all of Las Cruces; four daughters Leti Triplett of Las Vegas, NV., Grace Renteria and husband Mundo, Lupe Saiz and husband Juan and Margaret Gonzales all of Las Cruces; brothers Gregorio, Juan and Tony Gutierrez; sisters Ramona Chacon and Eva Medina and by many grand and great-grandchildren. Amalia was preceded in death by her loving husband Jose B. Gonzalez, grandson Gabriel Ontiveros, 2 brothers and 1 sister. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 pm. Amelia's funeral mass to celebrate her life will be at 10 am on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. Rite of Committal is at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to Jesus Gonzales Jr., Javier Ontiveros, Lawrence and Christopher Gonzalez, Daniel Anthony Villa and Joamalie Saiz.
