Alfred R. Michael

Alfred R. Michael, 58, of Las Cruces, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005. He was born July 6, 1947 in Grants, NM to Michael and Josephine Barela Michael. Alfred served his country honorably for more than 20 years, first as a 1st Lt. in Green Berets where he was awarded the Parachutist Badge and the National Defense Service Medal; in the US Secret Service and at WSMR (Civil Service). He had passion for golf, football and coaching Bantam Weight Football. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and was a Past Exalted Ruler. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Anita Michael of the familuy home; sons John J. Michael of Albuquerque, NM and Robert E. Michael of Euless, TX; daughter Tamame J. Bunger and husband Michael of Germany; brother Tobias Michael and wife Mary Ann of Albuquerque, NM and by grandchildren Brandon and Cameron Bunger. A Prayer Vigil will be at 7:00 PM Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home. The Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church in Dona Ana, NM with Fr. Miguel Macaya officiating. Burial of Alfred's cremains will be at 2:00 PM also on Friday at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
