Diolanda G. Moore passed away in the comfort of her home on January 17, 2023, after her 2-year battle with breast cancer. She was 67 years old, and her greatest love was her family. Actually, it does not seem right to say that Diolanda lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined to keep going. When anyone else would have broken, Diolanda's faith stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Diolanda. Though she is no longer physically here, she will always be in our hearts.
Diolanda is survived by her husband Wallace R. Moore Jr., her two children, Christina Perez & John D. Perez (Erika Poling-Perez), 7 grandchildren, Christopher (Alijah), Marc (Maria), Christiana, Isaiah, Xavier, Daniel, Eric and 2 Great Granddaughters, Elaina & Viviana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ysabel & Audelia Gonzalez, and her brother Ernest Gonzalez.
Diolanda graduated from Sul Ross University with her Bachelor of Arts, December 1999. In 2015 she went back to school for her Level II Educator License with an endorsement in Library Science. Diolanda retired from the Tularosa Intermediate School Library in October 2022. Her love of reading and desire to instill this love in others made her an amazing librarian, teacher, mother, and grandmother. Across the southwest, from Texas to New Mexico, she left her mark through her many years in education- from working as a substitute, to teaching full time, and then as a beloved librarian.
Diolanda was an active parishioner with St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. She was a Eucharistic Minister, participated with many activities such as Catholic Youth Conferences, Vacation Bible School, Maradomo for the Fiestas, and Christmas plays, and was s CCD/confirmation class teacher- all while volunteering for countless other church activities.
Her family asked that you join them for her services Friday, January 27th at St. Francis de Paula in Tularosa, NM, 704 St. Francis Dr. Her rosary will begin at 12:30pm with the funeral services following at 1pm. There will be a potluck held at the Parish Hall immediately following the services. Inurnment of cremains will be held at the Basilica of San Albino in La Mesilla, New Mexico on Saturday, January 28th.
The family asked that donations or tributes be made in Diolanda's name to any Literacy Organization in your area but, also - READ! Read to yourself, read to your children, read to your pets, read to your plants… it does not matter as long as you are reading.
