Condolence: Robin....I am so grateful that you had been a friend in my life. I treasure that we remained pen-pals all these years and I thank you for the experiences you gave me early-on that I would never, ever have had - rock climbing and hang gliding! Comfort and solace to Nancy and Keighley; rest in peace, my friend.

Condolence: I am saddened to hear the news of Robins passing, but and especially shocked in light of the fact that I honestly thought he would be the one to outlive us all. It saddens me even more to learn of the many facets of Robin I never knew of until his passing.Astronomer, gymnast, coach, father, friend, and so much more, Robin will be missed by many.

He was a tireless and enthusiastic advocate for our sport of hang gliding, always the guy working for the club to manage the fly-ins, politicking with city or Forest Service, always giving his best efforts to something or someone other than himself. His absence leaves a void that I doubt will ever be filled.

Adios Robin, you always flew higher than most of us ever knew.

Condolence: I met Robin 21 years ago on the Dry Canyon Hanggliding launch site. I had just arrived in Alamogordo and rode up there with my bike in search for the launch site. Up on top Robin welcomed me so friendly (me a complete stranger back then) that for the next four years it became a tradition that every time Robin visited Alamogordo for hanggliding we had dinner at our house, often together with Nancy and Keighley, prior they head home to Las Cruces. He would entertain the kids and the wifes with his guitar and his songs, while I would prepare the food. Those are some great memories I would not want to miss.
Even after I got transferred back to Germany we stayed in touch. Either I would visit him once a year in Las Cruces or he would visit us in Rostock together with his family. I cherish the long discussions we had about politics, science and life itself. I loved your open-mindedness, friendliness and your incredible positive spirit. I am grateful Robin, that I could call you one of my best friends. I am thankful that I got the chance to see and talk to you one last time three months ago. Robin you have been a role model to all of us, to me, Insa, Jana and Lukas. We will miss you!

Condolence: I will always remember the many kindnesses Robin went out of his way to bestow upon me in the nearly 15 years I'd been fortunate to know him. He always took the time to ask me how life was treating me after graduating from NMSU, and hand-wrote me one of the most beautiful cards I've ever received after donating to the fund set up in his honor. I will treasure Robin's enduring words and every single one of those kindnesses as I remain forever appreciative of the opportunity to befriend him in this lifetime. I send my love and condolences to Nancy, Keighley, the Hastings family, and everyone mourning Robin's passing while celebrating the many ways in which his presence brought joy to us all.

Condolence: From his other family, the flying community I’d just like to take a moment to thank you for sharing Robin with us. He was a great friend, mentor, and guide to flying in Alamogordo. He got hundreds of pilots off safely. Many times only to miss flying himself. Then when we all arrived to the landing zone he would have two things, his guitar and his homemade telescope. “Anyone want to see Saturn’s moons”. Or for the hundredth time, me, “I still can’t find Andromeda”.
Would love to hear Robin sing about “Bob” one more time. God Bless.

Condolence: My condolences to the family. When loosing a loved one it can be unbearable. That is why God has provided scriptures in the Bible to help ones cope with the loss. In the Bible book of Isaiah 25:8 Jehovah God promises soon to "swallow up death forever." He also promises to bring back those who have fallen asleep in death (Acts 24:15). In a little while longer this kind of pain will be a thing of the past (Revelations 21:4). May these scriptures bring you comfort in this difficult time (jw.org)

Condolence From: Dianne Hastings
Condolence: Thank you, Robin, for being such a great brother and remarkable human being. I always admired your positive, enthusiastic zest for life and the way you only saw the good in others. Robin was fond of quoting Will Rogers, "I never met a man I didn't like." and Robin liked everybody and everyone liked Robin.
When I first talked to Robin after his diagnosis, he showed great strength and optimism about whatever the outcome might be. "I've had a great life, Dianne." Indeed. Robin was the epitome of a life well lived.
And thank you to Nancy and Keighley for taking such loving care of my brother in his final months. He was truly blessed by your devotion and love.
I will miss you, brother. Rest in peace.
Love, Dianne

Condolence: Nancy, I was both shocked and saddened to learn of Robin's passing. Although we were not close friends I knew him over the years in Toastmasters, Senior Olympics, and we used to meet and chat at the NMSU weight room. I appreciated his "up-beat" temperament and positive outlook.I send you and Keighley my sincere condolences. Jack Welch

Condolence: We are so very sorry! Coach Robin was always filled with kindness and generosity. His love of gymnastics and teaching brought his valuable knowledge and experience to our Boys Team and Gym Magic for over 2 decades. He shared so many stories, brought his guitar and sang songs, and helped us in so many ways. Coach Robin was a wonderful, generous man who always placed others above himself. His caring, expertise and kindness will be missed.
