I met Robin 21 years ago on the Dry Canyon Hanggliding launch site. I had just arrived in Alamogordo and rode up there with my bike in search for the launch site. Up on top Robin welcomed me so friendly (me a complete stranger back then) that for the next four years it became a tradition that every time Robin visited Alamogordo for hanggliding we had dinner at our house, often together with Nancy and Keighley, prior they head home to Las Cruces. He would entertain the kids and the wifes with his guitar and his songs, while I would prepare the food. Those are some great memories I would not want to miss.
Even after I got transferred back to Germany we stayed in touch. Either I would visit him once a year in Las Cruces or he would visit us in Rostock together with his family. I cherish the long discussions we had about politics, science and life itself. I loved your open-mindedness, friendliness and your incredible positive spirit. I am grateful Robin, that I could call you one of my best friends. I am thankful that I got the chance to see and talk to you one last time three months ago. Robin you have been a role model to all of us, to me, Insa, Jana and Lukas. We will miss you!
