Obituary for Virginia Franco (Baiza)

Virginia Franco (Baiza)
Virginia Herrera Franco was called to her heavenly home April 15, 2020 at the age of 80. She was born May 27, 1939 in El Paso, Texas. She was a lifelong New Mexico resident.
Virginia had a servant’s heart and was treasured by everyone she met. Her integrity, resounding faith, quiet strength and love for family and friends was demonstrated everyday of her life. Her spirit was joyful, her love unconditional and she never had a bad word to speak about anyone.
She loved to share one of her many passions by always baking and cooking a new recipe. Virginia enjoyed nature with her gardening and watching the birds.
Virginia was a devout Catholic as she had her rosary and daily prayers to begin each day.
She was “Nana” to her grand-children, and they could always sit and talk to her for hours about their comings and goings. There was nothing they could not share with her. She was always there for anyone that needed a listening ear. The students that she taught always seemed to find their way back to her to visit and let her know their accomplishments. She was genuine and even when she was not well herself, she always wanted to know how you were doing. “Don’t worry, Be Happy,” she would say, even in her last days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan Baiza and Dominga Herrera Baiza, her eldest son Manny Franco and her youngest grandchild Isabella Franco.
She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Jesse Franco, children Ceila Welsch (Steve), Didra Chavez (Randy), Gabe Franco (Lisa) and Cyra Franco Gutierrez. The loves of her life were her 8 grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Luke, Jessi, Jacob, Kennedy, Preston and Meghan. She is also survived by many cousins that were like brothers and sisters to her.

“To laugh often and much, to win respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Funeral services will be held at a later due to COVID-19 restrictions.
In lieu of flowers, you may make contributions or donations to her beloved charity, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
