My rabbits

When I was about 12 my dad built some rabbit hutches and brought home some rabbits for me to raise. I had french lop eared, Siamese rabbits ,and a few others. I always say that my Dad was an environmentalist before environmentalism. We would feed our chickens and ducks and rooster day old donuts that Dad would bring home from Dunkin donuts. They gave him the donuts when I think the store said " hey that sheriff deputy needs these donuts" It was funny. Dad made sure that our grey water went out on to the vegetable garden. And we built a fence of barbed wire and Dad taught me how to skin the bark off the tree poles, how to use a post hole digger and a chain saw to split wood. To Dad it never mattered that I was a girl. I learned to drive a tractor and shot his muzzleloader. I changed my own oil and even put a starter in my dad's work truck. I knew that by doing all those things Dad was showing me independence. When Dad joined the Elks Club he took me as his partner while he was taking dance lessons. I thought my dad was the best at everything and to me he was. My dad did discipline me but I can't ever remember being mad at him for the way he took care of me. I am grateful to you dad for giving me strength and I will miss you but I will see you in heaven. I love you! Tracie Ebbs Marshall
