Obituary for Donald Marvin Bedale

Donald M. Bedale, passed away quietly September 1, 2018 at the age of 88. Born and raised in Chicago, IL he was the son of the late Joseph and Myra Bedale (Kurtz). He attended Hanover College, in Hanover, Indiana and received his BA in 1951. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge in 1953 he enrolled at the University of New Mexico, where in 1956, he earned his BS in pharmacy. His first pharmacist assignment took him to Silver City, NM, where he met his beloved Mary Nell Bartee. They married January 1, 1957 and then moved to Las Cruces together until her death in 1999.

He will be remembered as a quiet man, who loved sports especially the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and NMSU Aggies. “Mr. B.,” was a staunch Republican, a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, the Elks Club, and an avid bowler. In his later years he preferred to “stay home and hold down the fort” since there was always a sports event to watch.
He is survived by his son, Donald Jr. (Mona). He was “Da” to David and “Pa” to Heather, his beloved grandchildren, and his step-sister, Barbara Woodward. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary and many other beloved family members.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m, Friday, September 28, 2018 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, where he will be interred alongside his wife.
